Mando Group displayed the consumer version of its’ obesity treatment at CeBIT in Hannover in late March

Together with app developers Mobile Storytelling, Mando showcased the upcoming Virtual Reality-tool expected to be used in research, investigating the effects of virtual meals on satiety and eating behaviour.

Visitors were very enthusiastic about the product and the most frequent question was ”Can I buy it?”. The projected release is scheduled for August in Sweden and the UK, pending other EU-markets.

Cecilia Bergh, CEO of Mando: ”The reception of our consumer product sends us strong signals that the demand is significant – we did after all demonstrate to hundreds of would-be buyers receiving only interest and approval.” Doctor Bergh continues: ”The challenge now is to build an interface that is as versatile as our clinical staff and THAT will not be easy. We are grateful to have the skills of Mobile Storytelling in gamification and VR to draw upon in this task.”

CeBIT is arguably the world’s largest digital trade fair, with more than 200 000 visitors and hundreds of exhibitors. Mando Group was invited by the European Commission to display the Mandometer®, a device for restoring eating behaviour used in EU Framework 7 project SPLENDID, mapping and monitoring eating behaviour in school children to develop a model for identifying risk behaviour. Mando Group is also participating in the continuation project – a Horizon2020-project aiming to design and deploy context-specific strategies for managing risk behaviour in schools.

Mando Group is aiming for a release of the consumer product in August this year, piloting in Sweden and the UK. Other EU-countries, including Germany, will have access to online purchasing, and some, including Germany, will be targeted for setting up national operations as well.
