75%<\/strong> of patients go into remission (they are symptom free), and
\n90%<\/strong> of patients who achieve remission are still healthy 5 years after treatment.[\/mk_title_box][vc_column_text]Approximately 10% relapse; usually to an Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (EDNOS) diagnosis, where they meet some of the criteria for anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa, but not all.\u00a0 Those who undergo treatment a second time are considerably easier to treat (Bergh et al. PNAS 2002; 99:9486 ><\/strong><\/a>, Bergh m fl Behav Neurosci 2013;127:878 ><\/strong><\/a>).[\/vc_column_text][mk_divider style=”thin_solid” margin_top=”30″][mk_fancy_title color=”#bf0019″ size=”16″ margin_top=”25″ margin_bottom=”0″ font_family=”none”]Remission criteria[\/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text]\n

  1. Normal eating behaviour and perception of satiety (able to eat 300-350g meal in 12-15 minutes)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n
    1. Healthy weight (BMI 19-24 for women, and BMI 20-25 for men)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        \n
      1. Normal blood values<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
          \n
        1. Normal psychiatric status<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
            \n
          1. Returned to school or work and leisure activities<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
              \n
            1. Food and weight are no longer considered a problem<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                \n
              1. No binge-eating or vomiting in the last three months<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                A patient is considered in partial remission when five of the above criteria are met. Treatment continues until full remission is achieved.[\/vc_column_text][mk_divider style=”thin_solid” margin_top=”30″][mk_fancy_title color=”#bf0019″ size=”16″ margin_top=”25″ margin_bottom=”0″ font_family=”none”]Eating disorder treatment in Southern \u00c4lvsborg – healthcare providers and treatment results[\/mk_fancy_title][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”5\/12″ css=”.vc_custom_1465476314521{padding-left: 0px !important;}”][mk_image src=”https:\/\/mando.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/Atstorningsvard.png” image_size=”full” group=”_general” link=”\/wp-content\/uploads\/Atst\u00f6rningsvard_Sodra_Alvsborg.pdf” align=”center” crop=”false”][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”7\/12″ css=”.vc_custom_1432114374526{padding-top: 5px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Anders Thorstensson was commissioned by the Department of Health and Medical Care in Mitten\u00e4lvsborg\u2014part of the V\u00e4stra G\u00f6taland Region(VGR)\u2014to examine treatment options for eating disorders in Southern \u00c4lvsborg. Four health care providers, including the Mandometer Clinic in Alings\u00e5s, provided information for a report that reviewed; the prevalence of eating disorders and related problems in the region, how patients are treated, and how to measure the treatment effectiveness in relation to costs. Very briefly, the report indicated that patient outcomes are rarely measured or reported in conventional treatment, and that patients are rarely followed up after treatment. As pointed out in the VGR report, the Mandometer Clinics have been developing methods and procedures for 20 years that enable continuous improvements and patient outcomes.                 The Mandometer\u00a0clinics have strict remission criteria which have been developed to prevent relapse and the result is that\u00a090% of all patients who achieve remission\u00a0remain healthy for\u00a0the rest of their lives. \u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

                Only \u00bc of all patients do not qualify for full remission though the majority of them fulfill at least 5 of the 7 criteria.<\/em><\/p>\n[\/mk_title_box][mk_title_box size=”10″ line_height=”13″ margin_bottom=”10″ font_family=”none”]\n
